GSW Green Campus Initiative

The Green Campus Initiative at GSW began during 2004 with the formation of a Green Campus Task Force and the implementation of an internally conducted Environmental Audit. The initial goals of this task force and audit were to define what it means for GSW to become a Green Campus and to collect information relative to GSW's environmental stewardship.

Contemporaneous with these steps, GSW has been accepted into Georgia's Department of Natural Resources Pollution Prevention Assistance Division's Partnership Program, a program designed to allow GSW access to free, environmental technical assistance in the areas of pollution prevention, resource conservation, waste reduction, by-product reuse and recycling.

During the 2005-2006 Academic Year, GSW plans to continue its Green Campus Initiative with the following activities:

     - Finalize how GSW may be defined as a Green Campus
     - Expand GSW's Recycling Program on campus
     - Participate in Ball State Univ.
      "Greening of the Campus" conference
     - Participate in the P2AD annual Partnership Program conference
     - Develop a GSW Green Campus Initiative website
     - Begin response to findings of internal environmental audit
     - Utilize resources provided by P2AD Partnership Program
     - Complete a final report summarizing the findings of GSW's
         internal environmental audit
