A student is eligible for extended time on the Regents' test, if the students has successfully completed a minimum of two Regents' remediation courses and have taken the test twice in the same subject (essay or reading) that the student is applying to take with extended time. Extended time is two hours in each section for which they qualify. Criteria's are:
- If a student is currently enrolled in a remediation course, this course does count as one of the two completed remediation courses that are required to qualify for extended time.
- If a student is applying for extended time on the Reading part of the test, he/she must have satisfactorily completed two remediation courses in Reading and tested two times.
- If a student is applying for extended time on the Essay part of the test, he/she must have satisfactorily completed two remediation courses in Essay and tested two times.
- If a student is applying for extended time on Both part (essay and reading) of the test, he/she must have completed two remediation courses in Essay and two remediation courses in Reading and also have taken the Essay two times and the Reading two times.
- A student would not qualify if he/she took the class twice and took the exam once.
- A student would not qualify if he/she took the class once and took the exam twice.
SPECIAL ACCOMMODATION
Students with documented disabilities or special needs should contact Evelyn Oliver in the Student Support Services, Sanford Hall, room 104 or evo@canes.gsw.edu for more information regarding special accommodation testing and the necessary documentation. Students must request special accommodations at least two (2) weeks prior to the test date.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Students whose native language is not English, and were required to provide TOEFL scores for admission rather than SAT or ACT, and graduated from a high school where the language of instruction was not English, are given an alternative essay test and extended time. All other requirements will still apply. These students should send an email to request extended time. Email addresses are below.
IF THE STUDENT MEETS THE CRITERIA STATED ABOVE:
The student must send a request, including name and gswID#, to one of the email addresses below to see if he/she qualifies for extended time. A response, approved or denial, will be sent to the email address provided within 3-5 days.
Please note: Extended time testing schedule is not the same as the Standard Regents' testing schedule. If approved, the student will be notified, by email, of testing dates and times. Do not sign up.
