Faculty/Staff/Affiliates
Current Employees
You are assigned an Employee ID (emplid) when they are hired. This identifier is mainly used for processing within the PeopleSoft system. For this reason, your Employee ID will not change. The Employee ID will continue to be used in all Human Resource and Business Office administrative processes.
Applications, like RAIN and VISTA (formerly WebCT), requiring your Social Security number for logon purposes will now accept your gswID#. A gswID# "lookup link" will be provided on the RAIN menu page so you can quickly find your gswID# when needed.
New Faculty and Staff Members
You will automatically be assigned a gswID# during the hiring process. Instead of using your Social Security number, you will need your gswID# when applying for services, from the following offices, such as:
- GSW Office of Student Life
- Public Safety - applying for a parking permit
- Library - using library resources
- Student Success Center - use of facilities and admission to events
Students
Current Students
You will automatically be assigned a gswID# as part of the conversion. This means you will need to use your new gswID# to logon to applications like RAIN, Student Elections, and WebCT/VISTA. To assist with the transition to gswID#, RAIN will have a "look up link" so you can look up your gswID# until you have time to memorize it.
Incoming & Transfer Students
You will automatically be assigned a gswID# when applying for admissions at GSW. Upon acceptance for enrollment you will receive your gswID#.
