# # #    Beginning Freshmen Scholarships    # # #

Georgia Southwestern State University offers academic, leadership, and talent scholarships to high ability students, with minimum consideration of financial need. These scholarships are provided through the JC Roney Fund, Alumni Scholarship Fund, and other special or endowed scholarship funds.

Awards are made on a competitive basis and are generally given to entering freshmen. Applicants who submit the attached form no later than February 15th will be considered candidates for all scholarships for which they are eligible. In some cases, auditions and/or portfolios may be required. All applicants must also apply and be accepted for admission to Georgia Southwestern by the deadline of February 15th.

Notivications of awards will be announced in early March. All evaluations of grade point average will be based on work completed by the end of winter quarter or the first semester, whichever is appropriate.

The scholarships can be extended beyond the first year of enrollment provided the student's academic performance and the availability of funds warrant an extension.

Minimum requirements for eligibility are at least a 3.0 high school average based on CPC courses and 1100 combined score on the Critical Reading and Math sections only on the SAT (or 24 composite score on the ACT) for the Academic Scholarship and 1000 combined score on the Critical Reading and Math sections only on the SAT (or 22 composite score on the ACT) for the Leadership Scholarship.
