hours in business required for the School of Business Administration
undergraduate programs must be completed at Georgia Southwestern State
University.

C. Chemistry
1.
Addition – Course - CHEM 1100 –
Everyday Chemistry (3-0-3)
This class is designed for non-science
major students to help them overcome the lack of interest and the challenges
that they may have in learning chemistry.
The class intends to capture students’ attention by allowing them to
learn about topics concerning today’s society such as emerging infectious
diseases, crime scene investigation, the obesity epidemic, biotechnology, new materials,
chemical weapons, and nuclear energy.
Learning about a variety of chemical applications based on fundamental
chemical phenomena, the students will build confidence that they can be
successful in chemistry.
2. Addition – Course - CHEM 1151 –
Survey of Chemistry I
This proposal is for the first in a
two-semester sequence covering elemental principles of general, organic, and
biological chemistries designed for allied health profession majors. (3-0-3)
3. Addition – Course - CHEM 1152 –
Survey of Chemistry II
This proposal is for the second in a
two-semester sequence covering elemental principles of general, organic, and
biological chemistries designed for allied health profession majors. (3-0-3)
4. Substantive Change – Course -
CHEM 4350 Molecular Modeling – Org Chem (2-0-2)
We are increasing the
number of credit hours from 2 to 3. This
is to allow sufficient lecture time to incorporate current theory and
applications. We are also changing the
name from Molecular Modeling – Org. Chem. To “Molecular Modeling” to be
consistent with the increased emphasis on Physical Chemistry.
D. Dramatic
Arts
This course would allow students to
study the various types of makeup used in the theater. It allows the student to work with the
application of stage makeup and create makeup designs based upon the analytical
tools they acquire in class. Areas
covered may include, but are not limited to, grease paint, cream-based makeup,
pancake makeup, and three-dimension makeup.
2. Addition – THEA 3020: Stagecraft.
An introduction to the elements of technical theater. 3-0-3
This course would allow students to
study the tools, materials used and construction techniques involved in
creating scenery and stage properties.
Areas covered may include, but not limited to, woodworking techniques,
working with dyes, painting for the stage, basic stitching and basic
electricity as it applies to theatrical lighting equipment.
3. Addition –
Course - COMM 3040 Integrated Communication & Theory – 3 hours credit
The course will be a major requirement
for the B.A. in Dramatic Arts. The
primary focus will be given to the understanding and application of complex
theories and research of Human Communication study. Students will also investigate the
integration of effects of media technologies on Human Communication.
This course would allow students to
study scenic and lighting design. The
course delineates the necessary information for students to implement designs
of scenery and lighting as they pertain to performance texts. It allows the students to create scenic and
lighting designs based upon the analytical tools they acquire in class.

6. Addition –
Course - COMM 4545 Issues in Communication and Media Studies - 3 hours credit
This course will be a major
requirement for the B.A. in Dramatic Arts.
The primary focus will be given to the understanding and application of
environment, operation, culture, and diversity of mass media. Students will research and evaluate
communication issues about media content and perspectives of mass media in
everyday life.

under the rubric of “Major/Elective Requirements” and place in Area F with the
courses required of the majors in the B.S. in Political Science Program.

POLS 4950 Seniors Seminar (2 hours)
Rename this course “Senior
Research”. Make this course a three hour
course instead of two hours.

In Area F, reduce the required options
in the final category from two courses to one.
Eliminate SOCI 2293 (Sociology of the Family) from the list. Add SOSC 1101 (The World & Its Peoples)
to the list of three options.

Under the Major/Elective Requirements,
in the final category with four political science course options (U.S.
institutions & processes): add
Judicial Politics (POLS 4480) to the list; instead of one course, require two
courses from this group; and reduce the number of political science electives
(above) from four to three.

Nursing
1.
Addition – Program – B.S. in
Nursing (RN to BSN; Generic BSN; Accelerated BSN)
This proposal supports expanding the
science sequence course options in Area D to include Chemistry 1151 and 1152
which are designed for allied health professionals.
2.
Submission for File – Course –
NURS 3850 Gerontological Nursing (3-0-3)
The clinical component of NURS 3850,
Gerontological Nursing, was deleted Spring, 2007. As a follow-up to that action, three course
objectives (#10, 11, 12) need to be deleted from that course. There are two course descriptions – one exhibiting
the course with clinical component and objectives (DELETED) and one exhibiting
the course without the clinical component and corresponding objectives. Additionally, Pre-requisite course of NURS
3200 (Health Assessment) needs to be deleted related to the above mentioned
curricular change.
G.
Rosalynn Carter Institute of Caregiving
Addition of choice of three electives
that are appropriate and relevant to the program objectives for the Caregiver
Specialist Certificate.
Deletion requested of the above
elective courses. Clinical and field
experience requirement in each course would not be feasible or appropriate for
a student in this program.
