Welcome!

We are delighted that you have chosen Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) for your study abroad experience! We hope your experience at GSW will provide you with an abundance of knowledge, friends, and memories. We welcome you to our caring community of learning!

We hope you are as excited about coming to Georgia Southwestern State University as we are about having you here! Georgia Southwestern State University is proud to have over 33 foreign countries represented in its student body. This number continues to grow annually thereby enhancing the diversity of our student body! Through our academic, cultural, and social activities you are bound to find your niche here at GSW! We hope that you not only leave with knowledge but an abundance of new friends and fond memories as well!

In an effort to better inform you, GSW has created this website to explain the current changes and requirements that may affect you and your dependent's stay in the United States. GSW is dedicated to enabling you to accomplish your academic goals, so long as you follow the academic requirements of your nonimmigrant status as well as the requirements of the university. Though we will be glad to assist you in any way, we must also fill our role as the university liaison with a number of government agencies to ensure that the university meets its federal obligations. Failure to do so would result in sanctions for the university, including losing the ability to bring international students to our campus. We will provide you excellent and advice, but we will not jeopardize the university by failing to comply with our obligations under the law, including, in many cases, reporting failure on the part of students to fulfill their responsibilities.

Please take some time to review this website and familiarize yourself with the responsibilities and expectations for F-1 Nonimmigrant students studying in the United States. It is imperative that you understand these responsibilities outlined by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
