The peer tutoring program in the Academic Skills Center provides free tutoring to Georgia Southwestern undergraduate students in all core subjects including Math, Science, Computer, English, and many more. Please review the benefits and qualifications for being an ASC tutor prior to submitting a tutoring application.
Benefits of Being a Tutor-
Training. Tutors are required to complete ten hours of training which not only equips them to be better tutors, but assists in their own academic success as well.

Flexible Scheduling. Tutors may work around class schedules and other obligations by submitting an availability schedule. Tutors may work up to 10 hours a week, depending on the course(s) tutored, availability and the time of the semester.

Higher Levels of Thinking. Tutors have an opportunity to improve their own content knowledge by tutoring.

Work experience. Tutoring looks great on a resume or scholarship application.

Paycheck. Tutors are paid above minimum wage to start and receive merit pay increases as they progress with training and experience.

Qualifications To Apply -
In order to qualify to be a tutor, a student must have:
GPA of 3.0;
B in subject to be tutored;
Two academic references;
Good communication skills; and
Positive attitude.

To apply, download and complete the tutor application and drop it by the Academic Skills Center during business hours or you may submit the completed application as an attachment to acsk@canes.gsw.edu.
A confirmation email will be sent within 24 hours acknowledging receipt of your application. Once your qualifications and references have been verified, you will receive another email to set up an appointment for an interview.
