When Professors are TOO Accomodating

"No otherwise qualified individual with a disability in the United States...shall solely by reason of...disability, be denied the benefits of, be excluded from participation in, or shall be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance."-Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act
The Student Support Services program has the responsibility of ensuring that students with disabilities receive reasonable accommodations and auxiliary aids. The determination of services is based on the documentation provided by the student and functional limitations presented by the disability.
DOCUMENTATION
- Must be signed by a qualified professional
- Must meet the Board of Regents criteria http://www.gsu.edu/rcld
- Must be submitted to the Disability Coordinator before accommodations are made
DIAGNOSTIC TESTING
- Georgia Southwestern State University's diagnostic testing is conducted at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia by licensed professionals.
- Diagnostic testing may be conducted by a psychologist or diagnostician of the students choice, but the evaluation must meet the Board of Regents guidelines. http://www.gsu.edu/rcld

- Alternative media, i.e. audio textbooks, scanned test, enlarged print, and Braille
