The Academic Skills Center has a computer lab with 30 computers allowing students access to the internet and various software programs such as Microsoft Office XP, Peachtree Accounting, SPSS, Writer’s helper and both Mathlab and Maple for math students. Students have found the computer lab useful for internet researching, accessing their Rain, Radar and Webct accounts, completing on-line courses, composing papers and reports, and other useful functions of the computers. Students may also achieve quality printing through two printers.
Study Cubicles
Eight study cubicles are available for students to use for one-on-one tutoring and personal study time.
Classrooms
There are three classrooms, two of which have computers and overhead projectors, one also being equipped with a scanner and Smart Board. A television and VCR rests upon a mobile stand which may be moved from classroom to classroom. Classrooms are used for classes, workshops and tutoring sessions and may be reserved by contacting the Academic Skills Center.
Conference Room
A conference room is available with a computer and fax machine and may also be reserved by contacting the Academic Skills Center.
Resource Room
The center has a resource room which contains two computers and helpful materials related to writing and math skills. Students may access these resources at any time and check out material as needed. On average, two assistants are available at all times to help students.
