Greek Life
We are excited that you have chosen to begin your college career at Georgia Southwestern State University. During this fun and exciting time in your life there will be plenty of activities for you to get involved in. One of these areas is Greek Life. The Greek System as a whole has been found on college campuses for over a hundred years.
When determining whether or not to go Greek, there are 6 basic principles that the Greek system participates in. These principles are: Philanthropy, Leadership, Athletics, Scholarship, Social, and Brotherhood/Sisterhood. Each of these principles is important to the Greek System and each organization stands behind these ideals.
The Greek System has been at Georgia Southwestern State University for almost 40 years. GSW’s Greek System is very strong and is always looking to add new members. The Greek System at GSW consists of three governing councils. These councils are listed below with their recruitment methods:
Inter-Fraternity Council
Chi Phi ● Kappa Sigma ● Pi Kappa Phi ● Sigma Chi
The Inter-Fraternity Council recruitment has a 5 day official recruitment period beginning on Tuesday and ending on Saturday.
Panhellenic Council
Kappa Delta ● Zeta Tau Alpha
The Panhellenic Council recruitment is a 5 day process

National Pan-Hellenic Council
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. ● Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. ● Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. ● Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

NPHC recruitment varies according to each organization. For further information, please contact each group accordingly. There is no membership recruitment during the first semester at GSW.
