Southwestern’s photography concentration immerses students in the technical, conceptual, and historical aspects of the medium. Southwestern has a strong commitment to materials and processes which are core to the conceptual development of art. Assignments range from highly technical to highly conceptual as students discover their own personal expression within photography. Students learn to work with large format and studio lighting, and to print using traditional black and white, color, and alternative processes. The Fine Arts Department offers a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts, preparing students for a range of career options.
