Are you required to bring a computer or have a computer for
class?
Students are not required to bring a computer or have a
computer for class. However, many students do bring one. There
are several
computer labs
throughout the campus, as well as, in the residence halls. Thus,
if you don’t have computer, you’ll have access to several on
campus.
Can a freshman have a car on campus?
Students are allowed to have cars on campus. There is a
minimal required parking fee and the decals can be picked up from the
Public Safety Office.

Can you get my transcripts or do I have to do it?
You have to request your own high school or college(s) to
send official transcripts. They are to be sent to the Office of
Admissions, Georgia Southwestern State University, 800 Georgia

Does GSW offer a tutor program?

How do I register for classes? Accepted students will receive information about our STORM Registration Days. All freshmen, on campus transfers, and Non-traditional students need to attend a STROM Registration Day. Transient students' acceptance letters will have instructions on how to register for classes.

How do I apply for residence halls?
Residence Hall applications are mailed to all accepted students, but you may also print the forms from the Residence Life web site.
Can I send my immunization record on my own form?
You need to submit your record on our form. If you have any questions about your immunizations, call our Health Center at 229-931-2035.
Can I have a single-occupancy room?
Yes, we have single-occupancy rooms for freshmen, as well as upper classmen. Apply for housing early though, our housing is based on a first come, first serve basis.
How can I get my computer hooked up on the internet?
Our Office of Instructional Technology will be available to help you with this process. More information is available here.
How can I get my student ID card and why do I need it?
ID's are made during normal business hours in our Office of Student Life, located on the 3rd floor of the Student Success Center. Students living on campus will need it to access their Residence Hall. All students will need it for athletic events, in our recreation areas, to check out books in the library, and even for a 10% student discount at Wendy's.

How long does it take to find out an admission's
decision?
Most students usually find out within two weeks from the
time we have received all appropriate credentials. You can check

Is the TOEFL required for international applicants?
Yes, the minimum required score is 523 on the written test, 193 on the
computer test, and 70 on the internet based test. Students not meeting this requirement are offered
the option to attend our
English Language
Institute.

We have residence halls and a variety of options available and three
meal plans to choose from. We offer both 9-month and 12-month

When must an academic major be declared?
Usually, depending on your major, by the middle of your sophomore
year. If you choose after that time you may be adding
another semester or year onto the initial fours years to obtain
your degree.
Will the college accept the General Education Diploma
(GED)?
Yes, but you need to have been out of high school for at
least five years from the time you would have
graduated.
