The Music program at Southwestern offers flexibility in that students can obtain a Bachelor of Arts in Music or a Bachelor of Arts in Music with Teacher Certification. It also stresses individual attention in presenting the discipline of music. Private instruction is available for all music students in brass, woodwinds, percussion, piano, and voice. In addition, the campus boasts several instrumental and vocal groups. Undergraduates give numerous performances during their tenure as students in programs ranging from musical theater productions to madrigal dinners to concerts. The Department of Fine Arts encourages its students to participate in choral, band, and university activities as much as possible and the music program is also part of The Music Educators National Conference.
