Biology – the scientific study of life – has never been more exciting than it is today. The primary goal of Southwestern’s Biology Department is to expose students to a broad body of knowledge through extensive field work and hands-on research experiences. Students also have the opportunity to take part in collaborative research opportunities with individual faculty members that often lead to their findings being published in scientific journals and presented at conferences. The Biology Department offers a B.S. Degree in Biology, a minor in Biology for other majors, and preparation for medical, dental, veterinary, optometry, and other graduate programs.
