Submission Guidelines

1.     Literary submissions may be one of the following:

• poetry (40 line limit)
• personal essay
• short story
• one act play
• literary interviews
• non-fiction pieces (3000 word limit)

Submissions must be submitted both on disk and as a hard copy. Use the following format on the title pages of both the disk and hard copy submissions:

• Name and affiliation with GSW
• Year of study/Major
• Address and Phone number
• Title of submission
• Genre
• Word count
• An acknowledgement that the submitted work is the author’s and has not been previously published.
• Biographical information such as occupation, additional publications, interests, that we may use for contributor’s notes if your work is selected.
• Signature (see below).

DO NOT include name on submitted hard copy to facilitate “blind” judging. Submissions not following the guidelines will not be eligible for the literary competition.

Submissions should made in hardcopy and on disk.

Use Microsoft WORD. Use TIMES NEW ROMAN 12 point. Double space.

2.    Artwork submissions may be one of the following:

• Picture of an art piece (jpg, gif, or psd formats)
• Sheet music
• Music file (mp3 or flac formats) NEW!

Submissions must be submitted in an appropriate digital format.  The digital representation must be as close as possible to the original piece (i.e. high quality images, songs, etc).

3.    Submissions are welcome at any time, but cannot be read and acted upon except during January and February.

4.    Please sign your name and indicate that you are granting permission to the Sirocco to publish your work, and also indicate that this work has not been previously published.
