August

• Organization Fair First week of school:  Hand out copies of Sirocco

• Put out call to sponsors and set up weekly meeting schedule.

• Go over financial statements.

• Request for additional SGA Funding through Student Affairs and Academic VPs

• Send letters to local printers for bids for Sirocco Printing.

• Send out call to alums to enter the poetry/short story/creative nonfiction contest.  Contest entry fee CONTRIBUTION of 5 Dollars which entitles them to two copies of the magazine.

September

• Cover Art and Design = Sept. 25, 2007

• Post flyers

• Theme discussion meeting:  2007 theme was “Witness the Wind.”

• Fill out and submit Student Organization Registration Form – sent to advisors from Josh Curtin.

• Email faculty for literary contributions

• Begin weekly meetings to discuss philosophy, target improvements, discuss changes and improvements to be made in the upcoming year.

• Discussion on the nature of the collaborative work.  How many students involved?  Who makes editing and art decisions?  Cover designs options to let students choose?  Editor and art editor should work together more closely and collaboratively.

• Begin once monthly creative writing workshops.

• Solicit submissions from Organizations

• Begin soliciting submissions from ISA and Upward Bound Programs.

• Meet with International Students. 

• Write article for Sou’wester and ATR regarding international submissions.

October

• Fundraiser for prizes – Open Mike night with contributions for Sirocco.

• Put call out via TV-8 to alumni for contributions.

November

• Deadline for Faculty and Alumni submissions.

• Begin collecting and screening contributions.

• Literary judges meet to discuss judging.

December – 1^st week meeting of sponsors and staff!!!

• Literary Entries = Dec. 3, 2004

• Literary Contributions assessment

• Budget assessment

January

• Announce deadline for spring contributions from classes and Dolores Capitan prizes.

• Announce submissions deadline for art work.

• Art judges meet and discuss judging.

• Begin Art entries selection process.

February

• Visual Art Entries = Feb. 15, 2005

• Begin layout

March

• Continue to receive updates on layout.

• Applications for Editorships of Sirocco March 15^th  – 30^th

• Turn in nomination for Honor’s Day to recipient to Student Life

• Press date March  21^st  2007

April

• Deadlines for Editorship positions April 6, 2007

  • Make an appointment with the publisher and request that she look at the CD and approve that it is ready for press.  If changes need to be made they need to be made on that very day.

• Reception, reading and prize party April 17^th 2008

• BUDGET REQUEST TO SGA  April 19^th 5:00 PM

• DISTRIBUTION

• Final review of publishing year and product assessment.
