Georgia Southwestern State University - Americus, GA
Full Time Temporary Assistant Professor of Art Fall 2006 - Present
Part-Time Professor of Art History and Studio Art, Spring 2004-Spring 2006

Responsible for teaching Survey II and 19th Century, 20th Century, I and Non-Western Art History as well as studio courses such as Printmaking, Photography and Ceramics.
Helped bring VCU Glass artist Jack Wax to GSW as a visiting artist.
Participated in sophomore review program, which helped maintain quality in student development before advancement. Helped write NASAD accreditation preparation report.

Darton College - Albany GA
Adjunct Ceramics Instructor, Spring 2004-Spring 2006
Responsible for teaching Ceramics, hand building and wheel forming techniques. Responsible for ordering all materials and in charge of studio maintenance of wheels, slab rollers, electric kilns and downdraft gas kiln. Taught a diverse population of traditional and non-traditional students.

Virginia Commonwealth University - Richmond VA
Adjunct Ceramics Instructor, Fall 2003
Introduction to Hand-building: Used fundamental ceramic processes of pinch, slab, and coil to teach elements of 3-D design as well as the importance of both strong concepts and quality technique in the production of non- functional ceramic art.

Longwood University - Farmville VA
Adjunct Art Instructor, 2002
Developed course content for Art 125 a hands on art appreciation class and an introduction to studio art. Curriculum included sections of Art History and both 2-D and 3-D studio assignments.

Bellarmine College - Louisville, KY

Developed course content and instructed students in Ceramics I, II and Advanced Ceramics.

Continuing Education, Metro Parks Art Center - Louisville, KY
Ceramics Instructor, 8/94-5/96
Developed various courses for beginning and advanced students. During tenure, enrollment increased from 4 to 20 students with a high retention rate. Expanded the curriculum to include advanced ceramics course.

Department of Art, Kent State University - Kent, OH
Teaching Assistant/Instructor, 2/90-5/91
Developed course outlines and instructed students in Ceramics I and II. Lectured on clay, slip and glaze mixing, hand building techniques, and raku firing process. Facilitated student problem solving through critiques and special assignments. Lectured on ceramic history topics such as Mimbres pottery and Pre Columbian ceramic production. Developed assignments, which enabled students to become proficient in developing their own glazes. By semester’s end, students were able to fire their work independently. Repaired and rebuilt hard-brick and soft-brick gas kilns and salt kilns. Constructed an anagama wood-fire kiln from hand-made bricks.

• Instructed adults independently in beginning to advanced ceramics.

Potter/Sculptor, 5/93-5/96
• Developed pottery line and specialty glazes including tile commissions for new homes.
• Continued sculptural investigations including various commissions for private art collectors.
• Instructed private students and advised other professional potters regarding glazes.
• Developed product-line for art shows such as “Lakefront Festival of the Arts” Milwaukee Museum of Art

Sarah Frederick Studio Pottery - Louisville, KY
Production Potter, 8/92-1/96
• Responsible for throwing and hand building of production wholesale and retail product line.
• Developed efficient production processes and techniques for throwing, hand-building and press-molding new products. Maintained studio materials and equipment. Provided instruction and advice concerning firing of gas kiln. Assisted in national wholesale and retail sales expositions such as the ACC (American Crafts Council) in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Illinois.

• Created pottery for personal investigation and assisted in general studio maintenance.
• Lead pottery classes at Osage Pottery and conducted private instruction for 3 professional potters.
