POLICIES & PROCEDURES

Participation:

  1. All currently enrolled students, faculty and staff are eligible to participate. A student becomes ineligible immediately upon withdrawing from GSW; faculty and staff also become ineligible upon termination from the university. Participants in all intramurals sports and fitness center patrons are required to show a validated GSW ID before being allowed to participate in each event.
  2. A player shall not be permitted to play with more than one team per sport. Players may play on a men’s/women’s as well as a co-rec. team in the same sport. A player is a member of the first team that he/she signs a game scoresheet with. Exception: Pick-Up rule (explained below)
  3. Roster additions must be made in the Campus Recreation office by 2:00 p.m. on game day, prior to participation of new player(s). Use of non-rostered player results in the use of an ineligible player. A player of a team that forfeits out without having played a game may join another team. Any team that allows an ineligible player to participate shall forfeit the game(s) in which the ineligible player participated.
  4. Professional athletes are ineligible to participate in a related sport for a period of 2 years.
  5. Students whose names appear on an official intercollegiate athletic squad shall be ineligible to compete in that sport or any related sports. Prop 48 players are eligible to play.
  6. Playoff eligibility will be determined by the names on the roster; all players must play in at least 2 regular season game to be eligible for the playoffs.
  7. Shirts must be worn in all contests. Sunglasses, hats, and jewelry will not be permitted in all team sports. Tobacco and alcohol will not be permitted at any activity. Playing or spectating under the influence of alcohol or tobacco is cause for immediate ejection.
  8. Pick Up Rule: A team may pick up players prior to game time in order to field a legal team. A team may pick up no more than 2 players in order to get to the minimum number of players required to start a contest. If normal team players show up after the game has started, the short-handed team must continue to play short handed. The opposing team’s captain prior to the game starting must approve the players that are picked up. A team can only pick up the same player for a maximum of 2 games. The picked up players are not permanent members of the team.
