When an article, book, video, or other media is not available in the James Earl Carter Collection or through GALILEO, you can make a request to borrow the item through
interlibrary loan.
All items received through interlibrary loan will be sent directly from the lending library to James
Earl Carter Library and held at the circulation desk. The person who requested the item will be notified by
email. Students who cannot come to campus, should contact their local public library
for information about Interlibrary Loan services.
James Earl Carter Library is successful in obtaining most items requested.
The time period
can range from a few hours to a
few weeks, although most items will be received within a few days. Most items are received free of
charge. Fees charged by the lending library are passed on to the
student. Students may choose not to have an item ordered if there are fees
and can indicate the maximum amount they are willing to pay at the time they
request the item.
Interlibrary loans should be requested as far in advance of the assignment due date as possible. James Earl Carter Library
cannot guarantee when, or if, a requested item will be received.
To order an item, send
a request in an email addressed to libill@canes.gsw.edu.
The more information you can provide, the better the chances of
receiving the item. Be sure to include the maximum amount you are willing
to pay in the unlikely event that there is a charge for the item.
