Faculty/Staff E-mail Account

Request your new account by using the online request form. Before requesting the E-mail account read the E-mail Account Policies provided below.

E-mail Account Policies:

GSW E-mail Policies are available at http://www.gsw.edu/~oiit/emailpolicy.shtml.

Once you have read and agree with the above written policy, you can request an E-mail account with the online form provided. Once the form is received, you will need to allow up to 48 hours for the account to be created.

You will need to visit the Office of Information and Instructional Technology (OIIT) in Morgan Hall Room 105 to pick up your E-mail account information. Your information sheet will include your E-mail address and your initial password for your account. You will need to sign the form so it can be kept on file with the OIIT department.

Your mail account will be set to a pre-determined size. Your mail client should always be set to pull your mail off of the server once you enter your password. These mailbox size limits will not be increased.

Checking E-mail Remotely

If you need to check your mail off campus, you may do so by using the Mail2web web site at http://www.mail2web.com . Make sure once you are on the site that you select the option for a 'Secure Login'. Once in the 'Secure Login' screen you will need to enter your full E-mail address in the 'Your Email Address' field. Then you will need to enter the password you use to get into your account when on campus in the 'Password' field. Once all of this has been done, simply click on the 'Check Mail' button. You will then see all of your new messages. The mail listed on the 'Mail2web' web site will be new mail only. All of the messages viewed while on the 'Mail2web' site will stay on the server until you check your mail once you are back on campus and your mail client pulls the messages off of the mail server. You may mark new messages to be deleted on the 'Mail2web' site, but only those messages marked will be deleted and won't be seen when you return to campus. All other mail will be on the server once you return. It is imperative to make sure you check your mail fairly often from the campus to make sure you don't exceed your mailbox size limit.

Size Limit Warnings and Account Limit Messages

You will receive a warning when you are approaching the maximum size limit of your
E-mail account. You will need to make sure you log into your account on campus with the computer you use for daily business. The Eudora mail client (or whichever client you are using) will then pull the mail off of the server and drop your account well below your size limit. If, however, you do not log into your account on campus before the maximum size limit is reached, your account will no longer be able to receive mail. If you have an issue with your account, please call tech support at 931-2074.

Note: All mail clients should be setup to use a POP3 mail server and should also be setup to pull all mail off of the server at login.
