Jones elected to leadership roles

AMERICUS--Freida J. Jones, director of Student Financial Aid at Georgia Southwestern State University, was recently elected to two top positions in the financial aid field. 

Jones' peers named her vice president of the Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (SASFAA) and president-elect of the Georgia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (GASFAA). The terms of office run July 1 through June 30, 2004. 

In her SASFAA leadership role, Jones will coordinate training for the organization's 700-plus members across nine states. Her GASFAA duties include managing site selection for the group's 2005-06 annual conference. 

Jones' obligations with the two professional organizations are in addition to her ongoing responsibilities as GSW's top financial aid officer. 

"It promises to be a lot of work, but I look forward to it," Jones said. 

Jones has served in GSW's Office of Student Financial Aid since 1988. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from Albany State University, and a Master of Education degree from Georgia Southwestern. 

In the past, Jones has served GASFAA as secretary, vice president for programs and vice president for professional development. She has also worked as a SASFAA moderator and facilitator.
