GSW professor earns state recognition

AMERICUS--Earlier this Spring, Ervin D. Anderson, assistant professor of mathematics at Georgia Southwestern State University, received the Georgia chapter of the National Association of Developmental Educators (GADE) Outstanding Service to Developmental Education Students Award.

Anderson also presented a paper, "A Non-Traditional Approach to Teaching Mathematics," which emphasized how boardwork and the active participation of students in the teaching and learning process provides an opportunity for individual student success in math.

Membership in GADE consists of all 34 public institutions in the University System of Georgia and most technical colleges in Georgia. Their mission is to improve the theory and practice of developmental education at all levels of the educational spectrum, the professional capabilities of developmental educators, and the design of programs to prepare developmental educators.
