GSW Foundation elects new trusteesAMERICUS--Four new representatives have been named to the 40-member board that governs the Georgia Southwestern Foundation, Inc., Board of Trustees. Assuming trusteeships at the Spring 2004 Board meeting were: Dr. George W. Bagley IV, Barry Blount, Dr. Michael Cacciatore and Donald R. Roland. Bagley, a Leslie resident and alumnus of both Georgia Southwestern and the Medical College of Georgia, is a local dentist. He is a 1984 recipient of GSW's Award of Excellence and served as a board member of the GSW Hurricane Club, Darton College's Dental Hygiene Advisory Board, the Americus Country Club, Americus Rotary Club, and the Georgia Academy of General Dentistry. He is a member of Calvary Episcopal Church and is married to Bobbie Bagley and has two children, George and Mimi. Blount is executive vice president of Peoples Community Bank. He is treasurer of the GSW Foundation and president of the Hurricane Club. The GSW alumnus is also past chairman of the Americus-Sumter County Chamber of Commerce and the GSW National Alumni Association. He serves on the Americus Housing Authority and Americus Theatre and Cultural Center Authority. Blount is a member of the Americus Rotary Club and a deacon of First Baptist Church. He is married to the former Tami Fletcher. They have a son, Adam and a daughter, Carley. Cacciatore is an Americus obstetrician in private practice. He is a graduate of the University of South Florida College of Medicine and ranked first in a class of 98. Cacciatore is chief of medical staff at Sumter Regional Hospital and on various boards including: Sumter County March of Dimes, Visions for Sumter, and Boys and Girls Club of Sumter County. He is a member of Calvary Episcopal Church. He is married to Bronna Cacciatore and has a daughter, Miranda and a son, Cody. Roland is a Certified Public Accountant with Chambliss, Sheppard, Roland and Baxter. He is a graduate of Georgia Southwestern and serves on various local boards and state boards. Roland is on the Georgia State Board of Accountancy, and regional director of the National Association-State Boards of Accountancy; treasurer of the Georgia Society of CPA's and a board member of the Southland Academy Foundation. He is a past president of the Americus Rotary Club and formerly served on the GSW Hurricane Club and Alumni Association boards. He is married to Connie Roland. They have two sons, Jamie and Chad, and a daughter, Emilee. Nominated and elected by their peers, the Trustees provide external oversight of the Foundation's operations. John Pate Bridges of Cordele and Lee Belford of Savannah will join the Board July 1, 2004, as representatives of the GSW Alumni Association. The Foundation provides funds for Georgia Southwestern State University and also services to manage assets and administer gift accounts for the University. According to Executive Director Bev S. Pankey, the Foundation has helped provide educational opportunities to students by offering financial support for scholarships, improved academic programs, and enhancements to the GSW campus for the past 25 years.
