GSW's Rooks honored with state leadership award

AMERICUS--Nancy Rooks, director of procurement at Georgia Southwestern State University, has been honored with the Governmental Purchasing Association of Georgia's (GPAG) 2003 Officer of the Year Award. 

Rooks, a GSW employee since 1983, has taken a leadership role on campus and among her peers across the state. At GSW, she successfully implemented a procurement card program, including the development of a procurement card policies manual. She has also supervised the development of online purchasing forms, and updated procurement policies and procedures for the institution. 

Rooks has facilitated purchasing workshops and volunteered as a guest speaker at business classes and seminars. She served as president of the College and University Purchasing Officials Association during 2001. 

Rooks currently serves GPAG as the Member at Large and works on the Public Relations and Historical Committee. 

The Officer of the Year Award is designed to recognize purchasing professionals with overall responsibility for purchasing in a government agency.
