Oct. 28 Third World Seminar to focus on Iraqi War and its international implicationsAMERICUS--"The Iraqi War and Its International Implications" is the subject of Georgia Southwestern State University's Third World in Perspective Program seminar from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, in the GSW Education Center, Room 100. The public is invited and encouraged to attend this free program. "The main purpose of this seminar is to improve comprehension of the causes, main developments, and major world-wide implications of the Iraqi war," said Harold Isaacs, Ph.D., professor of history at GSW. The program will feature presentations by three members of the GSW History and Political Science Department, including Richard C. Hall, Ph.D., professor of history and chair of the department, "Historical Background of Iraq and the Iraqi War;" Miles A. Cooper, Ph.D., assistant professor of political science, "The Iraqi War and the Forthcoming Elections in the U.S. and Iraq;" and Philip I. Szmedra, assistant professor of economics, "Economic Aspects of the Iraqi War." Gary Kline, Ph.D., professor of political science, will serve as moderator. The forum is co-sponsored by the Department of History and Political Science, the Georgia Southwestern Foundation, Inc., the Division of Continuing Education, and the Association of Third World Studies, Inc. ### | |
