Dramatic Arts students put on show at GA Theater Conference ALBANY, Ga.—Hosted by Theatre Albany and Darton College, the Georgia Theater Conference state convention was held recently in the “Good Life City.” At the event, Damatic Arts students from Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) garnered numerous awards. The students presented a one-act adaptation of the play “Becoming Memories” under the sponsorship of the Sumter Players, Inc., a member of the American Association of Community Theater (AACT). “This production represents the benefits of the collaborative partnership that has been cultivated between GSW and Sumter Players Inc.,” said GSW Chair of Dramatic Arts Jeff Green. “GSW students could only have had this opportunity under the auspices of Sumter Players. It is also very important to recognize that the development of this production was made possible through special funding from the Charles L. Mix Memorial fund. This is only the second time a production developed in this manner has been entered in both KCACTF (Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival) and AACTFest.” The student’s awards were for Best Ensemble; Best Director, Sidney Davis of Kathleen; Best Supporting Actor, Michael Myers of Americus; and All Star Cast, Will Dozier of Americus and Sidney Davis. The ensemble included the following students: Becky Holder of Vienna, Will Dozier, Danielle Hall of Sylvester, Michael Myers, Ashley Longacre of Hinesville, Emily Fondren of Stockbridge, Marcus Weathersby of Ellaville, Megan Sleeth of Warner Robins, Zachary Taylor of Americus and Sidney Davis. Davis was the Director, Nick Ryan of Evans was the stage manager and Andrew Jones of Warner Robins was the technician.
