GSW chemistry professor selected as
Emory University Fellow
AMERICUS—Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) Chemistry Professor Nedialka Iordanova, Ph.D., recently added another professional accolade to her proverbial trophy case. Iordanova was selected as one of Emory University’s Emerson Center Visiting Fellows for 2009-2010.
The Emerson Center offers visiting fellowships to interested scientists from academic institutions all over the world who want to perform intensive research in computational chemistry, biology, physics and math & computer sciences. Iordanova’s, area of expertise is computational chemistry. She will spend the month of July doing research.
“It is a privilege to be able to do research work at an institution such as Emory University that is well known worldwide for its scientists and accomplishments in the field of science,” said Iordanova. “I am proud to represent GSW in such a prestigious place doing the research that I enjoy so much and that tremendously enriches me as a scientist.”
Iordanova has received numerous other grants and awards for her research. In 2008, she secured a $64,000 grant from the National Science Foundation. Iordanova’s husband, Tzvetelin Iordanov, Ph.D., also teaches chemistry at GSW, and he is a previous recipient of the Emerson Center Fellowship. Both are natives of Bulgaria. They reside in Americus and have one son, Daniel.
