GSW Foundation elects new trustee, re-elects three others AMERICUS—One new member and three current members have been elected to the Board of Trustees, a 34 member board that governs the Georgia Southwestern Foundation, Inc. Nominated and elected by their peers, the trustees provide external oversight of the Foundation’s operations. Local real estate developer, Rick L. Davis was elected as the newest member of the GSW Foundation Board of Trustees during its November meeting. His three-year term is effective immediately. Davis majored in Business Administration at Georgia Southwestern, played quarterback on the GSW football team and is a member of the athletics Hall of Fame. Davis is an active member of Central Baptist Church and is on the board of directors for the Americus-Sumter County Recreation Authority and the Middle Flint Chapter of the American Red Cross. He and his wife, Mary Kathryn, have four children, Cody, Kathryn Lee, Betty Morgan and Rebekah. Other trustees who were re-elected to three-year terms were: Mike Denham, owner of The Denham Agency, James M. Skipper, an attorney with Gatewood, Skipper and Rambo, PC and Dr. Wallace Mays, an Obstetrician/Gynecologist in Americus. In addition, Sybil B. Smith, V.P. and Chief Financial Officer for Citizens Bank of Americus, was given Life Trustee status. The Foundation provides funds for Georgia Southwestern and manages assets and gift accounts for the University. The Foundation’s purpose is to promote in various ways the cause of higher education in the State of Georgia, with particular emphasis on the development of Georgia Southwestern State University.
