GSW community mourns death of Millard Fuller

Georgia Southwestern State University has learned that Millard Fuller, longtime friend of GSW  and founder of Habitat for Humanity International, died earlier today on his way from Sumter Regional Hospital to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

"Millard Fuller was a friend of Georgia Southwestern,” said GSW President Kendall A. Blanchard, Ph.D. “Over the years he provided countless opportunities for our faculty, staff, and students to travel, learn, and address the housing needs of the world's less fortunate. More importantly, though, Dr. Fuller was a model for our students. His life of philanthropy, public service, and concern for others will forever symbolize an important component of a liberal arts education, learning to care about and give back to the community. His passing is a shock to all of us at the University who knew him, admired him, and appreciated his work and the values he stood for.  We will miss him."
