Regents approve ground lease and rental agreement for new GSW student housing

ATLANTA—Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) is one step closer to constructing a new, 300 bed, suite-style residence hall on the former site of Complex III.

On Monday, Nov. 10, the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia approved the ground lease and rental agreement for Georgia Southwestern’s planned new student housing. The next phase involves acquiring proper financing for the project.

“With the BOR approval of ground leases and rental agreements, we are continuing to monitor the bond market awaiting a favorable rate to complete permanent financing for the project,” said Cody King, GSW vice president of Business and Finance.

The residence halls constructed by GSW in 2006 and 2007 were financed in the same fashion, but with the economy in a current state of volatility, university officials are proceeding with great caution.

Leveled ground--The former site of the residence hall Complex III will be the new site of a 300 bed, suite-style residence hall.
