Professor to be honored as “Shining Star” by state Rep. Smith Feb. 26

AMERICUS—Georgia Southwestern State University Chair of the Dramatic Arts Department Jeffrey Green will be recognized at the state capitol by State Rep. Bob Smith as one of the University System of Georgia’s “Shining Stars” on Feb. 26.

As the Vice Chairman of Appropriations for the Higher Education Sub-Committee, representative Smith periodically recognizes faculty, staff and students from institutions throughout the University System.

In September, Green was selected by Region IV of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) to receive the 2008 Teaching Artist Award. This award was given in recognition of Green's reputation and achievement as a teacher and as an artist and in honor of his record of dedication to KCACTF.

Green earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication and a Master of Fine Arts in Theater from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. He was nominated for the “Shining Star” recognition by the University System of Georgia, based on a recommendation from the Georgia Southwestern Office of University Relations.
