Nursing students learn cultural and diversity issues
Diversity training--A cultural competence training experience was provided for every student in the Georgia Southwestern School of Nursing Friday, Jan. 9. Training was funded by a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant which focuses on cultural diversity in the nursing workforce. Above, nursing students listen intently as the workshop is led by Taharee Jackson, an expert in cultural and diversity issues which are commonly encountered on a college campus. Jackson is a doctoral candidate in the Division of Educational Studies at Emory University. Jackson has a graduate degree from Harvard University’s School of Education and is currently working at Emory teaching education and cultural diversity. She specializes in issues related to multicultural education, diversity sensitivity and culturally-responsive pedagogies in contemporary education.
