Candidates for U.S. Senate, House debate issues AMERICUS—The Georgia Southwestern State University Student Government Association (SGA) hosted two political forums earlier this week. On Tuesday, Oct. 21 in the GSW Fine Arts Building, U.S. Senatorial candidate Allen Buckley, Libertarian, along with a surrogate for Democratic (D) candidate Jim Martin, Larry Kennedy, and Republican (R) Sen. Saxby Chambliss, Rep. Lynn Westmoreland of Georgia’s Third District, answered questions from students, faculty, staff and members of the community. Moderated by SGA Sen. Ronald Daniels of Rhine, GA, the forum allowed participants to debate the issues for approximately one hour. Rep. Sanford Bishop (D) of the Second Congressional District and candidate Lee Ferrell (R) took part in a similar forum Wednesday, Oct. 22 in Jackson Hall. The results of both political races will be determined on Nov. 4, 2008, Election Day.
