High school students practice Math and Science at Georgia Southwestern
The proof is in the print—Students participating in Georgia Southwestern State University’s Math/Science Visitation Day Friday, April 25 are shown mastering their cyanotype printing skills. Commonly known as “sun-printing,” the cyanotype process takes place when a substance is laid on a white surface (a t-shirt in this case) soaked with ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide. When exposed to sunlight and then washed in plain water the uncovered areas of the paper turn a rich deep blue – “blueprint.” One of the many lab activities at the event, over 140 students participated in all.
