43rd edition of GSW literary & visual arts magazine released AMERICUS— “Sirocco,” Georgia Southwestern State University’s magazine of literary and visual art, is published in April of each year by students at Georgia Southwestern State University. The 2008 edition, “Scaling the Whirlwind,” marks the 43rd edition of the work and is dedicated to GSW President Emeritus William H. Capitan and his wife Dolores. A reading and reception celebrating the release of this year’s edition was held Wednesday, April 16 in the James Earl Carter Library. Following the 12th issue of the magazine in 1983, the name was changed to “Clay & Pine,” but the name, “Sirocco,” was restored in 2004. “Sirocco” submissions come from artists and authors with a present or past affiliation with Georgia Southwestern State University. The 2008 edition is edited by Patricia L. P. McCoy. The managing editor is Kimberly Norris.
