GSW Student Support Services director honored at regional conference ATLANTA, Ga. — At a recent conference in Atlanta, John T. Spencer, Georgia Southwestern’s Student Support Services director, was honored as the “Unsung Supporter” of the Southeastern Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (SAEOPP). Spencer currently holds the title of Parliamentarian for the SAEOPP’s Georgia division, but he has served as, president, vice president, conference chair and a number of other leadership positions. Spencer’s past SAEOPP awards include the Coca-Cola Award for Outstanding Leadership; the Distinguished Consultant Award; and he received a certificate of appreciation for outstanding service. GSW Student Support Services is designed to foster an institutional climate supportive of the success of low-income and first generation college students and students with disabilities. Their goal is to retain and graduate eligible participants enrolled in Student Support Services and provide the support necessary to achieve academically and enhance personal growth.
