Meet the President
President of Georgia Southwestern State University
Dr. Neal Weaver began his tenure as president of Georgia Southwestern State University in July of 2017, after serving as vice president for university advancement and innovation at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, La.
During his time at Nicholls State, the University saw four consecutive semesters of enrollment increases ending 16 semesters of enrollment decreases; a 40 percent increase in applications, and a 15 percent increase in admissions. He secured five endowed professorships supporting student success at Nicholls State. Weaver also served on several committees, including for accreditation compliance and leadership. In addition, he is active in community and professional organizations.
Prior to joining Nicholls State, Weaver served West Texas A&M University (WTAMU) in Canyon as vice president for institutional advancement and executive director of the WTAMU Foundation. He has also served in previous roles as vice president for university relations, director of university relations and director of public relations at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla.
Weaver holds a doctorate in organizational leadership from the University of Oklahoma in Norman. He earned an MBA from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant and a bachelor of arts in speech/communications from Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell.

Getting Started
GETTING STARTED
The purpose of this website is to provide you with quick reference to information you need as a new part-time faculty at Georgia Southwestern State University.
- Part-time faculty are under the direct supervision of the Chair of the Department or the Dean of the School/College in which they are hired.
- The Chair/Dean is responsible for providing to each part-time faculty member an appropriate orientation to university policies and procedures
- Part-time faculty should receive an annual evaluation as part of the annual faculty evaluation process
- Part-time faculty must provide students with a mean of contacting them and with hours during which they will be available for contact in person, by phone, or by email
ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
The following forms can be found at Human Resources Forms and should be submitted to the Vice President for Academic Affairs Office before the beginning date of employment. Your first paycheck will be released pending receipt of all requested documentation.
Additional documentation that should be submitted to the Academic Affairs Office include:
- Updated curriculum vita or resume which includes employment at GSW
- Official transcripts requested and mailed directly from college or university from which you have received a degree. The mailing address is:
