What is MOWR?

  • The MOWR Program puts you on the fast track to university success by allowing you to earn dual credit as you complete your high school course requirements and begin your college career at the same time.
  • The MOWR Program is available to Georgia students at public high schools and private high schools, as well as, homeschooled students.
  • You can enroll jointly in high school and university courses or you can concentrate on university classes alone. Regardless, you’ll earn college credit for all of your Georgia Southwestern courses. Plus, you’ll get a feel of university life and learn how to make the most of your college experience.

MOWR Program Application Prodcedure

How much does MOWR cost?

There is no cost to the student to participate in MOWR. The MOWR Program is funded by the Georgia General Assembly and administered by the Georgia Student Finance Commission. It is designed to provide participating high school students with financial assistance toward the cost of postsecondary coursework. Only approved courses will be covered by MOWR. Georgia Southwestern will loan textbooks to students. The student will only be charged for the textbook if they fail to return the book at the end of the semester.

What are the MOWR Program requirements?

To qualify for the MOWR Program, you must:

  • Meet the minimum required SAT/ACT for MOWR
    • Old SAT (taken prior to March 2016)
Minimum SAT score of 970 (combined Critical Reading and Math) with at least 430 Critical Reading and 400 Math

    • New SAT (taken March 2016 or later)
Using the College Board concordance tables, the new SAT scores will be converted to the old SAT equivalents to determine the combined Critical Reading + Math score. The combined, converted Critical Reading + Math score must equal 970. In addition students taking the new SAT must have a Reading test score of at least 24 and a Math section score of at least 440.

      • Students may use the College Board’s New SAT to Old SAT Score Converter to determine if their new SAT scores meet or exceed the equivalent of the 970 minimum. Once the new SAT scores are converted to the comparable old SAT scores using the converter, students should add together the Critical Reading and Math section scores only (the Writing section score should not be included).

    • ACT
Minimum ACT Composite of 20 with at least 17 English and 17 Math

  • Earn a minimum 3.0 GPA (academic courses only)
  • Gain approval from your high school guidance counselor and parent(s)
