GSW's Senior Day helps prepare graduating seniors to confidently and successfully enter their career fields. Campus administrators, alumni, and local business owners will lead workshops throughout the day on topics such as resume building, interview skills, personal branding, and social etiquette. Seniors will have the opportunity to take a free professional headshot, order their cap and gown, participate in a mock interview, and have their resume reviewed. All attendees will receive a free t-shirt and custom GSW 2021 graduate mask. Professional business attire is requested.

10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.

Learn effective interview tips that will help you stand out from the rest and land the job you're interviewing for. Be a stand-out candidate by learning insights in the most effective interviewing techniques you can use when interviewing in-person and virtually. You will also learn about soft skills, how to use them effectively, and why those skills might be more important than your prior work experience.

Building Your Personal Brand  |  Canes Central 111  |  Chelsea Collins, Director of Marketing and Communications, GSW
When seeking a job, you need to have your best foot forward at all times. Building and maintaining a strong personal brand, especially online, is important to finding success in your career and life. Social media is a great way to connect and build a strong online community for young professionals. We'll go over the pros and cons of social media and how to use it to reveal your best self.

The purpose of a resume is to help you land the interview. This session will teach you how to build a resume that gets attention and results. You will learn current best practices on how to effectively communicate your skills and how to include your student experience in your resume.

This workshop is designed to teach you how to “wow” at your interview and in the workplace so your presence is credible, up-to-date, aligned with your career goals, and authentic to you. You will learn tips on how to dress for your career and style preferences.

Interviews can be stressful. Interviewing when you are expected to eat and talk at the same time can be even more stressful. This interactive and delicious 3-course lunch will teach you dining and social etiquette skills so you will be able to handle yourself gracefully under pressure.

After the job offer, it’s time to close the deal. Learn what to do and what not to do in offer negotiations including salary, benefits, office environment, accommodations and more.

A cover letter can make or break your application. This presentation will teach you how to write professional and effective cover letters, emails, and thank you notes to potential future employers.

*Mock Interviews  |  Canes Central  |  Schedule a mock interview and put those interview skills to the test. This practice interview will help familiarize you with the interview process and allow you to practice answering common interview questions with confidence. This will help reduce stress before an actual job interview. 
You will receive an email after pre-registering with more information and details.

Professional Headshots  |  Canes Central  |  Get a free professional headshot to use as your new profile picture or on your resume. Having a high quality image of yourself to share with your professional peers boosts confidence and conveys your personality before they meet you. 
Wear professional business attire. Try to avoid busy patterns and bright colors.

Order Cap and Gown  |  Canes Central, 2nd floor computer lab  |  Get sized for your cap and gown and order from Herff Jones to ensure they arrive on time for graduation. 

On-site Resume Review  |  Canes Central  |  10am-2pm & 1-3 pm  |  Bring your resume to any of the sessions above and have GSW professionals critique it. If you'd like your resume reviewed prior to your mock interview, please submit with your pre-registration.
