The study of chemistry forms the basis for a career in industry, government, the health professions, education, or any combination of these. It is a challenging but rewarding discipline that prepares the student to continue in a life-long learning experience while working in positions that are interesting and productive.
The department offers two programs in chemistry. The chemistry major at Georgia Southwestern State University is flexible. Through the choice of elective courses and of a minor, the student may prepare for almost any professional goal and find that the logical and analytical skills developed will be strong assets in any chosen career.
The chemistry minor is a valuable addition to any other major program at Georgia Southwestern State University. The minor courses are selected to allow a broad foundation in the Chemistry discipline.
