Ms. Cummings is a mathematics teacher at Americus-Sumter High School. She serves as the mathematics department chair and is a mentor and master teacher to GSW teacher candidates. Her administrator describes Ms. Cummings as a teacher who has an exceptional rapport with her students and works with the students to encourage life-long learning traits. She is outstanding in all aspects.

The Georgia Southwestern State University College of Education Teacher of the Week program recognizes teachers and partners for their outstanding contributions to the School of Education. This week we are honoring Mrs. Amy Hall. She is a kindergarten teacher at Schley County Elementary School. She serves as a mentor and master teacher to GSW teacher candidates. Her administrator describes Mrs. Hall as a teacher who always finds a ray of sunshine that needs to peak through on a cloudy day!  Schley County Elementary School is very proud of the little things she does each day to make them better. Mrs. Hall cares about her children and loves them as her own. The College of Education faculty love working with Mrs. Hall because her passion is contagious and her professionalism is something aspiring teachers need to see.

This week we are honoring Mrs. Mandy Butler. Mrs. Butler is a kindergarten teacher and department chair at Furlow Charter School. She serves as a mentor and master teacher to GSW teacher candidates. Her administrators describe Mrs. Butler as the epitome of an educational professional! She makes connections with her scholars and their parents to ensure students are successful and remain a “sponge” to soak up all the learning opportunities she provides. Mrs. Butler is worthy of being named the GSW College of Education Teacher of the Week for her dedication and leadership to ensuring scholars have an enjoyable experience at Furlow Charter School.

We would like to honor Ms. Tracy Wilson. Ms. Wilson leads the exceptional education department as department chair at Americus Sumter High School.  She serves as a mentor and master teacher to GSW teacher candidates. Her administrators describe Ms. Wilson as a teacher who goes above and beyond for GSW teacher candidates by providing multiple windows of opportunity for the candidates to gain experience and knowledge. Ms. Wilson mentors and guides new teachers, leads professional learning sessions, and holds high expectations for her students.

The Georgia Southwestern State University College of Education Teacher of the Week program recognizes teachers and partners for their outstanding contributions to the School of Education. This week, we are honoring Mrs. Judy Parks. Mrs. Parks is a Music teacher at Furlow Charter School in Americus, GA. She serves as a mentor and master teacher to GSW music education students and brings her Furlow Charter School Scholars to campus to experience music at the post-secondary level. Her assistant principal, Mr. Jason Williams, described Mrs. Parks as a teacher who truly loves to come to work every day and provide joy and excitement to her scholars by sharing her love of music.
