Georgia Southwestern has engaged the services of the Carl Vinson Institute of Government for a comprehensive classification and compensation study focusing of the development of a new job classification system and pay structure for all administrative and academic faculty positions and staff positions. The Carl Vinson Institute is among the most highly-rated university-based organizations and has tremendous experience with assisting local governments with resource management technical assistance projects and have been utilized by other USG institutions for salary study needs.

Georgia Southwestern faculty and staff will play an integral role in the development of our new classification and pay structure and will be involved throughout the process.  The Carl Vinson Institute conducted on-site orientation meetings with faculty and staff in November and December 2017 to review the project methodology and gather pertinent existing information and input.  The scope of the work will include interviews and feedback from faculty and staff, as well as the collection and analysis of published wage and salary survey data covering public and private organizations.  The project is expected to begin in November 2017 and continue through June 2018, with preliminary results available beginning in May of 2018.

Important Information for Staff Members and Administrative Faculty

As you learned during the project orientation meetings, staff members and administrative faculty will be asked to complete a Position Description Questionnaire to aid in the development of new job descriptions and classification system for those positions. In order to keep the project moving within the given timeline, please adhere to the following deadlines for completing the questionnaire:

Employee turns completed questionnaire in to supervisor no later than January 23, 2018.

Supervisor reviews and turns finished questionnaire in to Human Resources no later than January 30, 2018.

OneUSG Connect is a system-wide initiative to develop and implement a consistent approach to policies, procedures and technology solutions that benefit the University System of Georgia (USG), in an effort to reduce costs, streamline processes, and have uniform guidelines with centralized support.

The first priority for the OneUSG initiative is to bring all institutions onto one system to manage USG human resources activities, benefits and compensation.

On June 18, 2017 OneUSG Connect will replace ADP and all employees will use the system to record and submit time and to access, review and update personal information including direct deposit, paystubs and benefits.

There are many benefits for using OneUSG Connect:

  • It’s easy to use and will automate current manual HR and benefits processes. 
  • It can be used on mobile devices and will allow employees to submit and/or approve absences on the go. 
  • It delivers faster and more efficient responses to handle issues or answer questions, which will be available through     the USG Shared Service Center’s centralized support.

Beginning June 26, 2017, USG benefits will be administered through the OneUSG Connect-Benefits system. This work is part of the broader OneUSG initiative, which will pave the way for a new Human Resources information system and payroll system.

What's staying the same?

Employees and retirees will continue to have the same array of quality benefits as today. Benefits are not changing as a result of this transition to OneUSG Connect-Benefits.

Beginning June 26, employees will have two new ways to access your benefits:

  • Online: through the Benefits tab in OneUSG Connect
  • By phone: OneUSG Connect-Benefits Call Center at 1-844-587-4236

You will be able to review current benefits coverage, make changes to your benefits due to life status changes, find doctors, hospitals and other healthcare providers, keep track of healthcare expenses and contact insurance carriers and other benefit resources.
