ThunderCampStackedLogoWhat is Thunder Camp?

August 2-4, 2020

Thunder Camp is Georgia Southwestern's new extended orientation program designed to assist incoming freshmen with their transition into the Hurricane family. The three-day, two-night experience establishes an opportunity for you to engage and connect with your peers and campus leaders. You'll get a jumpstart in learning how to “take tomorrow by storm!" Thunder Camp provides a foundation for a successful college experience by immersing you in community-building, developing a greater sense of self awareness, and building a connection to the GSW family. Within the away-camp setting, you will develop a sense of independence and pride as you embark on new adventures. This experience provides an opportunity for you to blossom in new directions.

Thunder Camp gives participants the opportunity to expand on the knowledge they will have already gained at Orientation while being exposed to student life, Hurricane spirit, and campus traditions by exploring transition topics and participating in exciting adventures. Thunder Camp allows you to learn more about GSW and form closer bonds with your peers in a relaxed, safe environment.

This experience allows you to be mentored by Thunder Camp Counselors (TCCs) – GSW student leaders who are involved in campus life. These hand-selected counselors are trained and eager to help you find your place at GSW so you can thrive in your first year and beyond.

Registration for the 2021 Thunder Camp will open in early 2021!
