The Student Government Association sets forth these guidelines to determine the funding of student organizations and their activities. The use of Student Activities Fees will be granted to the requesting organization after the proposal is measured against these standards.

  • We will not fund activities or events which are:
    • religiously affiliated
    • politically affiliated
    • closed to the general student population
  • We will not fund community service projects sponsored by individual organizations.
  • We will not fund activities or events that are related to Social Greek Letter Organization recruitment.
  • We will fund activities of academic related organizations after the organization seeks funding from academic departments prior to requesting funds from SGA.
  • In order to receive funding, all students must meet the requirements of a registered student organization.
  • The funding request procedures of the Student Government Association will be as follows:
    • Funding Request Forms will be received via email at gswsga@gsw.eduuntil 3:00 PM, at least three weeks before the event. Organizations will receive a response within 3-5 business days informing them of their presentation date.
    • Each Funding Request will be reviewed by the SGA Budget Committee after the Funding Request Presentation and prior to the vote on SGA Funding. The SGA Budget Committee will provide SGA with a recommendation on funding at the SGA Funding meeting.
    • The organization will receive an email regarding their funding request approximately one week following the presentation.
  • Conference funding guidelines are as follows:
    • To receive funding, the organization must be a recognized student organization in good standing.
    • SGA will cover up to $800 of registration fees for all approved conferences.
    • Funding is contingent on the organization’s members attending the conference and providing proof of attendance (registration confirmation, conference agenda, etc).
    • SGA reserves the right to fund all, part, or none of the Conference Funding Request in accordance with Article VII Sections I and II of the SGA Constitution.
  • The Student Government Association Funding Guidelines are to be voted on for approval at the beginning of every SGA administration.
