Sequoyah High School

Why did you choose to attend GSW?

I chose GSW because I wanted to go outside my comfort zone. I wanted a place where I could feel important and loved. The first couple of times that I visited the campus, I didn't know anyone but now these people that I am surrounded by are like my family and I cannot imagine ever leaving them.

What is your favorite part about GSW?

GSW is a place full of growth and opportunity. My professors and classmates challenge me daily to be the best that I can be.

What is your favorite memory or experience you've had at GSW?

My favorite GSW memory has to be SurgeFest. The concert, the food trucks, the atmosphere- it was all so much fun and made me love my school even more.

Psychology. I’ll graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with minors in Education and Human Resource Management.

Why did you choose your major?

I chose to major in psychology because I want to help others in whatever way that I can. By learning about people and why they do the things they do, I hope to develop a deeper understanding of how to help people who need it the most.

Who is your favorite professor? Why?

My favorite professor is Dr. Huffman. He always manages to brighten my day by cracking jokes during class. Dr. Huffman also amazes me with his outlook on life and his abundance of knowledge. He cares for his students and makes sure that they know that.

What is your favorite class? Why?

My favorite class was psychological statistics. I enjoyed this class because I secretly love math and numbers. Combining psychology and math together is a beautiful thing. Dr. Fisk is also a great professor and makes the class fun!

What do you like to do in your free time?

I really enjoy hanging out with friends or spending time outdoors.

I am a black belt in recorder karate. (Yes, the flute that we all had to play in elementary school.) I'm really good.

What advice would you give incoming freshmen?

Don't worry about what your friends are doing. College is all about figuring out what you want to do and who you want to be. Your friends cannot decide that for you and the sooner you realize that, the happier you will be.

Also, make sure you go to class - I promise you can nap afterwards.
