LeaMcQueen

Oakwood, GA
Psychology with an Education minor
2014-2015 Student Government Association President

Lea became interested in Georgia Southwestern after her high school vice principal recommended it as a university that had opened many doors for him. Lea’s decision was solidified after she attended a Storm Day.

"At first look, I had the assumption that such a small campus had nothing to offer, but after attending Storm Day, I realized there were several opportunities to invest in,” said Lea.

Since joining GSW, Lea has realized those opportunities. She is a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She spends her free time either playing football, the piano, or raising awareness for various causes, such as breast cancer. Most recently, Lea was elected as the 2014-2015 SGA president. Lea was class president in high school, but believes that her new role as SGA president will allow her to actually make a difference.

“Becoming SGA President will allow me to make a bigger impact on students and potentially leave a legacy,” said Lea. “My favorite aspect of GSW is how well the university and the community collaborate together to make the student experiences worthwhile.”

Lea plans to become a high school counselor after GSW.
