Title IV – Federal Student Financial Aid

Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 governs the federal student financial aid programs. Georgia Southwestern State University is authorized to participate in federal Title IV programs. This authorization does not imply approval or endorsement by the U.S. Department of Education of the quality of Georgia Southwestern State University’s educational programs.

Website for information on the federal loan program. 

Selective Service System
Almost all male U.S. citizens between the ages of 18 to 25 are required to register for Selective Service. Some non-US male citizens are required to register also. Additional information can be found at this site. 

Student Access Loan Program (SAL)
Georgia Student Finance Authority is offering a private loan ‘Student Access Loan’ Program, with 1% interest rate, designed to assist undergraduate students who have a gap in meeting their educational costs. Whenever you borrow money you must read the small print very carefully. If you are in need of additional funding for the current year and have exhausted all of your federal financial aid eligibility, you may want to consider the Student Access Loan Program (SAL).

Meet all eligibility requirements.

  • Be considered a Georgia resident and United States citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  • Complete a valid Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to apply for this program.
  • Have exhausted all other funding options (federal, state, scholarship, & grant)
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in accordance with the SAP policy at their college or university.
  • Must be enrolled at least halftime in an eligible Georgia postsecondary institution.

Additional information and the online application for this lottery funded loan program must be completed during the established application cycle period on the GAFutures site.

If you apply for this loan, understand that this is a private education loan that must be repaid.
