Reading Camp:

June 10-13, 2019           11:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.      $40
Ages: Pre-K - 5th grade

The focus of the GSW Summer Reading Camp is to build and strengthen reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills for children Pre-K-5th grade (must have currently completed Pre-K to participate). Each camp participant will work individually with a GSW School of Education teacher candidate. The camp will meet at the School of Education building on the GSW campus. 

Registration forms and payment are due by May 31, 2019. Due to a limited number of spaces, late registration forms will not be accepted. Forms and payment can be returned to the GSW School of Education or mailed to:

Coding Camp:

July 8-10, 2019           9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.      $30
Ages: Appropriate for students who just finished 1st-6th Grade
Georgia Southwestern State University's School of Education is hosting a Coding Camp this summer to introduce students to basic computer programming skills. Students can create their own interactive stories, games and animations. Coding is beneficial because it helps students to think creatively, systematically, and work collaboratively.

Chess Camp:

June 12-14, 2019           10:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.      $15 for one day; $25 for two days; $30 for the entire camp
Ages: 10-15 years old
The GSW Summer 2019 Chess Camp, hosted by Professor John LeJeune (Political Science) and members of the Georgia Southwestern State University Chess Club, welcomes chess enthusiasts of all levels from beginner to advanced. Over three days, participants will sharpen their chess skills, explore chess culture, and develop confidence on and off the board through chess-related activities.

Registration is limited to 25 participants per day. Please book early by emailing john.lejeune@gsw.edu with your participant’s name and dates of attendance, or any questions you might have. A response email will provide details regarding forms, waivers, and payments.

Ages: 5-12
This camp is open to players ages 5-12 and features quality instruction by the GSW Baseball Coaching Staff and players. Players will have to opportunity expand their baseball skills and benefit from a unique, competitive and challenging atmosphere.

Ages: 5-9 (co-ed)
Basic fundamental skills camp working on dribbling, shooting, passing, defensive techniques, and teamwork skills. College coaches and players from GSW will be there to assist throughout the camp. Fun mini games and team competitions will take place.

GSW Basketball Shooting Camp is designed for players looking to refine their shooting technique. This camp will break down the shooting process and focus on proper footwork and mechanics. Campers will work on shooting off the dribble, shooting off the pass, free throws, and more through a mix of shooting drills, shooting games and game scenarios.

Elite camp will be packed with high intensity teaching and competition designed for players who want to play at a higher level. This program is for serious ball players and campers must come motivated and ready to work. Campers will receive personal attention and feedback. Camp will cover strength and conditioning, mental toughness, offensive skill work, defensive techniques, and team work. Finally, this camp will be a great opportunity to get to know the players and staff at GSW, as well as see our program values.

Individual Skills Camp

Grades K - 12th (co-ed)
GSW Individual Skills Camp provides players with a competitive and educational basketball experience. Our goal is to teach the game by building a solid foundation for players at all levels while competing in a fun yet challenging environment. Campers will participate in high intensity drill sessions designed to develop skills, court awareness and competency. Campers attending will work with our experienced coaching staff as well as current and former GSW players. Camp will be a balance of instruction, skill development, mini games, and team competitions.
