Among the changes are to definitions for people who will need extra precaution due to age and underlying medical conditions. JUNE 23, 2020 — Over the past few weeks, Georgia Southwestern has heard powerful feedback from our campus community, and has had moments of intentional reflection that dig deep into our core values. At such a crucial time in the fight for racial equality, it’s important that, as an institution of higher learning, we understand and acknowledge our history while continuing to move forward. Georgia Southwestern is dedicated to fostering an inclusive campus environment that recognizes, supports, and empowers each individual member’s voice. We are actively listening to our students, faculty, staff and alumni. But it’s not enough to just listen - we must take action.

MAY 27, 2020 — As noted in Dr. Weaver’s message this morning, employees who fall into a high risk category should communicate with Human Resources to arrange for accommodations to continue current telework or alternate on-site schedules and assignments. Once an employee reaches out to HR we will provide them with the required documentation and next steps, which will include a designation from the employee on the serious health condition, a description of the accommodations being requested, and a physician’s certification. Supervisors will also be consulted regarding requested accommodations.

MAY 27, 2020 — As the State of Georgia continues to take measured steps toward a return to normal economic and social activity, Georgia Southwestern has been approved to initiate our plan to bring employees back to campus and begin preparations for a Fall Semester that will include students living and attending classes on campus.

APRIL 8, 2020 — As many of us know, it’s the people we work with each day that make being a part of GSW a special experience. It is the way we come together to guide, motivate, challenge and develop students that makes GSW a unique educational community. The COVID-19 pandemic has pushed us in directions we never thought possible, and has caused us to be creative, quick thinking, and focused on our primary goal of student success while ensuring we are able to protect the safety and health of all involved.  While it has been challenging, I know the GSW family has risen to the occasion in ways seen by many, but also in countless acts of skill, generosity and caring that may have gone relatively unnoticed.

APRIL 6, 2020 — President Neal Weaver and his wife, Kristi, have a very special announcement they'd like to share with the GSW family, especially our graduating seniors.

APRIL 3, 2020 — Georgia Gov.
