AMERICUS (March 24, 2017)--Georgia Southwestern State University Interim President Charles Patterson was given the inaugural One Sumter Visionary Impact Award last night at the 97th Annual Meeting for the Sumter County Chamber of Commerce.
Patterson was presented with the award by Sumter Electric Membership Corporation (EMC) President/CEO Ted McMillan, who also serves as the chairman for One Sumter. One Sumter is a community-wide initiative of the Americus Sumter Payroll Development Authority (ASPDA) to stimulate economic and community development in all of Sumter County.
The featured speaker for the annual meeting was Jackie Cushman, a nationally syndicated columnist for Creators Syndicate. Cushman is also the daughter of former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
